Summary
To Zuko, life is a stage and an important play is taking place in front of him. He believes that it is his destiny to keep the story on track no matter what and ensure everyone gets a happy ending. Things would be so much easier if the characters would stop dying, killing him, and/or ending up in some sort of catastrophic situation. It doesn't really matter, he will reset the stage as many times as it takes until everything is perfect.

Summary
For Charlie Mother’s Day is just a miserable reminder that Lilith might never come home. After decorating the lobby fails to cheer her up, she retreats to her sanctuary of sad self-made memorabilia, only for Alastor to accidentally interrupt her isolation. He entertains the topic of his own upbringing on the condition that they grab some food when he is finished talking, but once given the opportunity, Alastor seems to never truly be finished talking.
((A take on an agency-oriented version of Alastor’s Mother and Alastor clearly being her son.))

- Charlie about Al’s mom: “I think she’d be proud of you,” she continued before he could interrupt. “However any of this works, wherever she is, I think she’d just be happy you made it through everything and still…” She searched for the wording helplessly. “And you’re still you. The version of you she loved is obviously still in there. The kid she tried to protect. Just older and stronger.”
The plate in Alastor’s hands clinked against the counter as his hands went still.

That's the problem. That's always the problem.Only when Iroh takes a bolt, does Zuko finally decide.
He punches Azula in the face.
Now he's chained in a cell beneath Ba Sing Se, sharing floor space with a furious blind Earthbender trapped in a wooden box and a sarcastic warrior who keeps licking the walls.
