A memory loss fic where Shane gets hit hard in the head and wakes up in the hospital. He thinks he is 27, sneaking around with Ilya and still in the closet, only to learn that they are married.

Tears spilled down his mother's cheeks. “No, honey, you’re not twenty seven. You're twenty nine. Almost thirty.”
Shane snorted. “That can’t—”
“It is, sweetheart. And Ilya is…”
She glanced at the door where two large shadows stood just beyond the frosted glass window. The shorter one embraced the much, much taller one.
Shane’s heart started beating frantically in his chest. His head pounded as he tried to take in what he was hearing, tried to process what the fuck his mother was saying to him.
“Ilya,” he squeaked. “Ilya is what?”
“Ilya is your husband.”

“Shane says you are smart. You went to university before you were drafted, yes?” Rozanov’s eyes were twinkling again. He wasn’t Shane’s boyfriend right now, he was the Russian Menace.
“Yeah, I mean, I did two years. You didn’t go to college, did you?”
“No, so I have to do my own readings, my own studies. You must have done philosophy courses?”
Was Rozanov mining for chirping material? What the fuck? “I, no I took like…a writing seminar. And um, a civics course. Plus, like, math.”
Rozanov blinks at him, again. “Math.”
“Yeah, math.”
“So you are a mathematician? You study calculus? Linear algebra? Discrete mathematics?”
What in the fuck is discrete mathematics? “I dunno, no. It was like, y equals mxb squared, or whatever. You know, algebra.”
“Algebra.” Rozanov’s eyebrows shot up his face. “Like for a child? American university gives you primary school lessons?”
OR
Hayden Pike confronts Rozanov about his relationship with Shane. It doesn't quite go as he expected.

Hayden had never seen him like this before. The painkillers were making Shane…fun. He was funny, and kind of bitchy? All Hayden had to do was mention a player, any player in the league, and Shane had an absolutely devastating assessment locked and loaded. To hear Canada’s Golden Boy with perfect PR presence rip into everyone and everything…it was just too tempting to pass up.

The ice made sense. His blades cut through clear glass and chipped snow. Warm ups calmed him enough that he didn't even freak out when Rozanov approached him.
“Strange," he said as he made lazy circles around where Shane was stretching out his thighs.
After a beat, he knew Rozanov was waiting for him to take the conversational bait. “What's strange?"
“We have never been on the same side of the blue line before."
He was bracing for a chirp, so this plain statement threw him off. "Yeah, I guess.”
"Do you think they know?”
"That we're on the same team?”
"That we're going to destroy them.” Rozanov stalled his restless circles to lock eyes with Shane, and the whole arena fell away. "You and me, we will be incredible.”
Or, Shane and Ilya are not soulmates, they just have really, really good sex.
