He picks up the quill and scrawls a fast sentence: ‘my name is Link.’
“Link,” you say aloud, “that’s a nice name.” Something in the back of your mind gives a small wriggle, like a memory that was trying to stand out. You had a feeling that you must have heard his name before, or perhaps you’d just met someone with the same name. Maybe someone in the nearby Hateno Village. But you had never been good at pairing names with faces, and you had never stayed in the town long enough to make any friends.
When you look up once more you see that he has a curious expression on his face, as if there’s a question he’d like to ask.
OR
Link washes ashore near your cottage after a nasty fight at sea, and you take it upon yourself to tend to his wounds once he falls sick. Having only just moved to Hyrule, you know very little of its history, and next to nothing about the Calamity or the Upheaval. This makes Link interested in you- in someone who has no idea that he's the Hero of Hyrule.
