“I’m your mentor, Q.” Q says, fighting a blush. He’s grateful when Wilbur’s free hand cautiously takes the feather. He twists the item in between his fingers, watching it spin like a helicopter seed. “For your hair.” Q explains, pointing at his own head, nerves growing as Wilbur stares at the feather in disbelief. “To match your sweater.”
“And what does my mentor do, other than bring me feathers?”
Q’s heart stutters momentarily as the feather is tucked behind Wilbur’s ear. His caramel eyes find his own once more. This time, Q smiles with confidence, ignoring the approaching peacekeepers. His time may be up, but they’ll leave him alone soon enough. Once they recognize the face of the surrogate son of the monster that signs their pay checks. It pays to be a lookalike, and the Quackity name holds enough weight yet.
