    Doctor Strange saw 14 millions different ways the conflict against Thanos could have ended. He only saw one end where Thanos lost for good - one where Tony Stark used the Infinity Stones and snapped Thanos and his army away, sacrificing himself in the process. What he never saw was a timeline where someone else did the same thing, someone much younger.

    All Tony Stark was after when he went with the crazy idea of the Time Heist was a chance to bring back the teenage girl he saw as his daughter. He was ecstatic when Penny Parker appeared in the ruins of the Avengers compound, grinning and ready to kick ass. He was horrified and heartbroken when he found her mortally wounded after she used the Infinity Stones, blaming himself for not watching after her.

    As for Penny, all she wanted was for people to live peaceful and happy. What was one life against that of all of the Avengers facing Thanos?

    There’s a crowd of people in the distance, some with their hands up covering their mouths, others are pointing.

    Toni thinks there might be more than one actively laughing.

    “Fuck you people,” Toni rasps more to herself than any of them. They’re all too far away to hear her anyways.

    So, with one last sneer down at Stone she snatches her bag up off of the ground and strides back towards her dorm.

    Most of the time Peter’s okay.

    Yeah, it still hurts. Having Ned and MJ so close to him yet so far away. Seeing Happy every so often and never being able to say a word. The guilt of May’s death weighing on his shoulders.

    But even though the pain never leaves, it’s usually tolerable.
    He can let himself cry for a bit, then toughen up and go patrolling.

    And even if he lets the thugs take a few more hits at him than needed, or lets himself get in the way of a pocket knife, or takes a little too long to dodge a bullet, it’s okay.
    Because at least he’s okay.

    Isn’t he?
