It was fair to say that Izuku had something of a guilt complex. Most of his friends tried to fight this tendency. Mei, however, looked at him and thought that if he had the habit of looking back at past actions and wondering what he could have done differently, well, wouldn't it be helpful if she made a baby that could do that literally?
Going to school with an Eldritch Abomination probably didn't count as a valid choice, however.
