Summary
Victory means nothing if you're alone in your happiness. A handful of years after the defeat of Adriel, normal is not a word that resonates with most of the girls in the order. Normal is an abstract concept. Normal is a world of ease detached from their reality. For them, normal is exploring and knowing and shredding the Bible they were raised by. They don't fight an actual devil any longer, they fight their own demons. Demons that know every corner of their psyche, every trauma of their many lives, and how to wield this knowledge to puncture their life preservers and set aflame the oxygen tanks. They know they cannot live outside the barbs against their hearts, barbs crafted by their on hand.

Summary
The sisters and the halo have hidden long enough after the defeat of Adriel. They've built a new life within the walls of the Cradle. A life that now include the well-being of over a dozen kids. Their day-to-day isn't demonic chaos but something completely different. Something far more domestic. What happens when an otherworldly child shows up, shattering their sense of normal chaos and throws them back into the unknown.
How can they ensure their futures will remain the same after the arrival of the child? How will they continue to leave their pasts in the past and move forward to futures they all crave to keep a reality?

But clearly it seemed that Bobby had in fact lost the last of his precious marbles, despite what anyone else might have had thought.
Because on the very top of the page, right under the title and terms were two names, printed in big, black and bold letters. A weird font which Rumi immediately recognizes as from the other documents that Bobby has made.

Rumi and Mira. Mira and Rumi. If there were times in which Rumi could choose for the ground to open up and swallow her whole, this would probably be one of them.

Rumi and Mira are the top of their class and both of them apply for a case study in their psychology class for their own respective reasons. Only, as it turns out, both of them get paired together for the roommate experiment. Backing out is not an option anymore.. and it seems that somehow they'll have to get along without trying to actively smother each other.

“AND you’re so comfy Rumi. I should sit on your lap more often.” Zoey emphasizes her point by getting more comfortable on her friend’s lap, adjusting as best she can.
“Zo! What are you?!” Zoey cuts Rumi off before she can finish that sentence as the younger girl leans forward, a glint of something catching her eyes.
“Rumi…? Do you have… fangs?”
The sudden squeal Zoey lets out doesn’t give Rumi anytime to answer before she has a mouthful of Zoey’s fingers in her mouth.
Zoey hadn’t noticed these before, but Rumi’s canines were sharpened into a point and stood out between the other teeth.
“Wow… They’re so… sharp.” She swallows as she gets even a better look, pushing her face mere inches away from the half demon.
OR
The Cruise au where Mira and Zoey constantly tease Rumi, and want her to relax since she’s a workaholic.

Finally, Zoey blurted it out, voice soft but sharp:
“Have you ever thought of… something besides monogamy?”
Mira’s thumb stilled on the screen. She looked up, slow. “…What?”
Zoey’s hands twisted in her lap. “Like—not open relationships. Just… not just one person. Have you ever thought about being with more than one person and it still being okay?”
She wasn’t looking at Mira. Her voice was tight, like it hurt to speak. Mira watched her with a furrowed brow, still quiet.
“I feel so guilty all the time. Because I love you, Mira. I love you, and this doesn’t change that, but I see her and I want to make her smile and I want her to hold my hand and I think she’s beautiful and weird and sweet and I—”
She finally looked up, tears shining in her eyes.
“I think I ruined us. And I’m so sorry.”
Mira just stared at her. Wide-eyed. Silent.
Zoey’s heart dropped. “Say something.”
Mira exhaled like she’d been holding her breath for a month.
Then she visibly deflated—shoulders dropping, head tilting back against the wall—and let out a quiet, choked laugh.
“…Oh thank god.”
