Summary
Everything is going well. At least, “well” abiding to the standards of anyone but Eito’s own. It’s too loud to hear anything above the resounding fanfare, but he manages to catch Takumi’s eyes. Indigo glints beneath the sun, lifelike in a way Eito hasn’t witnessed in years. Takumi smiles, jagged teeth set in an unabashed curve. Those dropping sags of what must be cheek fat pull taut, giving way to dimples oozing pus. It reminds him of their SDU days and the hideously boyish grins Takumi polluted the academy with. This means Takumi is happy. Eito almost finds the sight beautiful.
What he fails to realize is how fragile peacetime can be.
