OR: The Odyssey ends with a thunderbolt hurled at goddess bright-eyed Athene’s feet and a hurried peace. Most of the rest of the Epic Cycle is lost to us in history. What if this thunderbolt were not the end of the story but the beginning?
This is an original retelling of the aftermath of the Odyssey, grounded in Bronze Age historical and mythological realism.

In 48 BC, young queen Cleopatra VII was fighting a civil war against her brother Ptolemy XIII. While she and her army were besieging the border fortress of Pelusium, the roman general Gaius Julius Caesar landed in the Egyptian capital Alexandria. Cleopatra knows that her recognition as Queen of Egypt depends on the goodwill of Rome. She decides to put all her stakes on one card and plans a secret meeting with the famous and notorious general on the enemy's territory.
