Dean is a hybrid, a fluffy little wolfpup that can shift into a nearly human wolfboy.
Hybrid shifters are commonly taken in as pets, but Castiel never wanted one. And he certainly didn't want to be one of those sad old Alphas who secretly fucks their pet wolfboy.
