But he was not a child. He was a man, and so was Bingley, and good men were accomplished and considerate and clever. Men married wives. It was a foolish boy’s dream to live with one’s friend forever, and never to marry a wife. // Darcy comes to understand how men might dream as well.

    Darcy and Bingley, not quite making it work. I love that this can be read with the implication of an unhappily-ever-after ending for Darcy; it’s bittersweet in the best way.

    This is a sequel to a ‘fic that probably should never have had a sequel. Unfortunately, when inspiration knocks, it tends to have the annoying habit of not going away until somebody gets up to answer the door...*grumble, grumble* :) This ‘fic follows ‘Secrets of the Heart’; a story set some years after the end of Tokyo Babylon in an alternate reality where the events of X never occur. As you’ll probably be able to guess from reading this piece, there’ll be one more ‘fic in this series before this story arc comes to a close. :>
