Summary
Wings are a symbol of ambition, of power, of respect.
They are not something that can be taken from the universe by force, they must be given. They are given to only the most capable, to the worthy.
And Techno just woke up with wings.
OR
AU where wings are a sign of being blessed by the gods or something along those lines. The royal family are the only ones to ever have wings, but the universe decides to have a bit of fun, and gives Techno some.
This causes some issues, considering the fact the royal family hears of Techno's new wings, and then deems him to be family. Even if Techno doesn't think the same.

Hiccup doesn't need to see the blood to know he's dying.
It seeps hot through the rent in his leather, between the open splay of his fingers, pulsing in rhythm with the ragged heartbeat that still clings to him out of habit rather than hope. The snow around him melts into a shaky scarlet halo, steaming in the bitter wind, and the world above tilts and blurs. He can taste iron on his tongue and ash in his lungs. Even still the battle rages on around them, a sea boiling with fire.
Or: After being killed by Drago Bludvist, Hiccup wakes up back in time, getting the opportunity to do it all again. He just doesn't understand why, of all places, he's been brought back to his adversary's doorstep.
