Summary
In a post-magical-eruption world, Diego Memphis is sent on a mission to protect a diplomat in order to secure a treaty with the giants. Dragons are encroaching on his home, the Barrier, and the giants could possibly offer protection and strength in their numbers. But when they accidentally trundle into the wrong part of giant town, the horrors they encounter overwhelm and the mission goes south. They're separated, and Diego is left mortally wounded at the mercy of a terrifyingly intelligent giant.
This terrifyingly intelligent giant is called Kade. Kade has anxiety. He's not trained for trauma in his medical unit yet, but the poor little human's clearly got no one else to look out for him, so he does what he has to do.
And also...god, this can't be true, but...the poor little human looks like...a child?

Horrid. Retched. Disgusting. Revolting. Hideous.
Those were just a few words that Eito would use to describe all of humanity. Not that he would ever utter those words out loud to any of the filthy monsters in the world. After all, he was forced to associate with them to survive. He had to keep his composure in order to carry out his plan.
He had thought that he would go through the rest of his life in his mental solitude, after being adopted into a new family where he would be able to sequester himself away from prying eyes. But never in his wildest dreams did he imagine what he would encounter in that new home. Or how the small, borderline helpless humanoid creature would somehow carve a special place into his soul and heart.
