Summary
The eclipse canon exploded. Remnants of Shadows energy could still be seen in the night sky. Besides that, the only proof of Shadow’s existence are his rings. Not only is Shadow gone, but the Master Emerald is missing. Sonic and his brothers have their next mission, find the Master Emerald (and Shadow) before it’s too late…
Meanwhile… Shadow survived the explosion, crashing to earth. It doesn’t take long for GUN to find him in his weakened state.
GUN wants the same thing as Team Sonic. They are searching for the Master Emerald but for different reasons. After lots of research, they find out they don’t need the emerald's power, they can use Shadow….

Summary
After Shadow the Hedgehog's victory over Black Doom in White Space, Rouge the Bat attempts to bond with him, knowing he had to say goodbye to Maria again. But the angsty hedgehog ends up driving a wedge between the two of them.
During the course of the next year, the events of Sonic Forces and Sonic Frontiers take place, with Shadow being scarcely seen or spoken to. For six whole months after Sonic the Hedgehog's victory on the Starfall Islands, nobody had seen or heard from Shadow at all.
Now, however, the Commander of G.U.N. has called Rouge in to bring Shadow in for an urgent mission: The Black Arms have returned, with a new, mysterious leader, one who could be the greatest threat Shadow or any of them have ever faced.
While fighting for the sake of the world Maria loved, can Shadow overcome the terrifying power of Eclipse the Darkling, and the new Black Arms under his command? Especially with his heart torn in two?

"No! Listen for once!" Sonic's fists clench at his sides. A crackle of blue Chaos energy sparks across his knuckles, lighting up the narrow hallway in a quick, bright flicker. "You think you could survive being me? Even for a DAY?!"
Tom freezes when he sees the sparks. "Sonic! Your hands..."
Sonic ignores him, breath coming fast. His eyes turn blue. "You think it's all fun? Saving the world? Running fast? It's not just speed! It's electricity and noise and pressure all the time!" The energy flares again, brighter. "You have no idea how hard it is!"
Tom holds out a cautious hand. "l was in school once upon a time, believe it or not. It was hard for me too."
"Like fifty years ago!"
"I'm not that old..."
Tom and Sonic switch bodies. What could possibly go wrong?
