Summary
They go back in time, they get a second chance. A chance to start over, to get it right, to make everything better. There's so much to fix, so much to take care of, so much to carefully set into motion. This time around they know better, they literally know the future: they know what they have to do, they know what they have to avoid, they know what they have to start, they know what they have to stop. They're together now.
And yet.
And yet shit still happens. Sorrow still follows, hatred still blooms, and equations are still off.
Five had known he had already failed one sibling the moment he was back in the past the first time around. He wasn't about to let the same happen this time. There were seven of them, when he left, and there would be seven of them when he died, which wouldn't be happening any time soon. No exceptions this time.

Summary
The mission went from stopping the Eclipse Cannon from destroying Earth to saving Sonic very quickly.
Below, Knuckles saw Tails latch himself to Sonic and hold up the ring to bring them safely to the ground. But something was wrong. Tails wasn’t throwing the ring. His hand wavered. He made no attempts to save them.
When the ring slipped from his fingers, Knuckles knew he had to save them both.

Summary
Knuckles had been in for a shock that morning when he woke up and felt nothing.
Having grown up on this small island for so many years - over a decade of the same markings, sounds, tastes and smells - Knuckles could recount everything in detail with his eyes shut. So when night came and he couldn’t make out the raggedy scratch of Sonic and Tails’ graffitied names on the forth shrine pillar, he figured it out.
The master emerald was starting to dim.
He sent a message to the two number one mischief makers in his life as soon as dawn hit, urgently requesting them over as soon as possible. They were usually connected - if not the source of problems like these, so hopefully they’d find a way to fix it. They’d better.
