Commander Wolffe's hobby was recording stories from the people he encountered during the Clone Wars. Some stories were nostalgia about the strange upbringing of clones on Kamino, some were adventures recounted by soldiers or Jedi, some were just etiological. And since the tone of the war was tragic, Wolffe insisted that all of the stories had to be funny.
