Displaced from all they knew, Frieren and Fern find themselves adrift in a darkened land. Beneath the faint light of distant stars, they eke out an existence in the face of perils and unspoken doubts. But as the rising tide of the Shadow compels them to seek refuge wherever they might find it, the ever-tightening grip of Morgoth becomes a yoke too suffocating to ignore, and they are inexorably drawn into the Unseen Doom of the First Age.

Hazel's definition of reality had been thoroughly shifted by the time the eldest Feanorians, Glorfindel the Balrog Slayer, and the Fellowship of the Ring departed from her family's humble cabin.
