    “No”, Inej continued, “If you want my forgiveness, you’ll have to do it right. With flowers, chocolates and a handwritten letter. The whole thing.”

    “The barrel is no place for flowers”, Kaz muttered, a faint smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. There was blood on his lips and he was blinking slowly. “Only for weeds and vermin.”

    “Dandelions, then.” She spoke louder than strictly necessary, hoping that maybe her voice would be enough to keep him tethered to the present long enough for them to reach the schooner. “But the chocolates are non negotiable. Come on, now.”
