    Love.

    Love, as far as Hymns and Stories said, was supposed to be buoyant and frantic. A happy anxiety that would turn colours brighter, warmth warmer, and life livelier. Generally, it was described as something purely positive, with circumstances and choices being the things that sometimes twisted it into something more like War.
    Which mortals and Gods alike immediately saw as something else – something separate. The moment that Ares dipped his blood-crusted nails into a situation, Love was no longer involved. It had been the spark, the positive intention, a misguided hope, the start - but Love itself didn’t have a place in War. Because it, as an emotion, was purely positive, and so it couldn’t be the source of pain and strife.

    Because if Love caused pain, then it wasn’t really Love anymore, was it?

    A fic in which Hypnos thinks love and pain are irrevocably connected, and Zagreus challenges that idea. Briefly.

    “I can’t say, really,” he ponders aloud. “If Achilles were on Skyros, I’m afraid you’d just have to seek him out yourself. I can’t speak on a demigod’s behalf.”

    “Cheeky,” Odysseus shakes his head with a grin. “It’s not too late to break your vows.”

    “And be condemned down below? I think I’ll take my chances with the Trojans.”

    The girl with long blonde hair and sea blue eyes glances at them again. She looks at Patroclus, and then at Odysseus, catching his gaze for a brief second. When she looks away, she does so with no small amount of irritation.

    He thinks her name is Pyrrha.

    or; his task of finding Achilles and convincing him to join the war finds Odysseus on Skyros. It seems he's not the only one here on Skyros with an agenda. In fact, it seems that everyone on Skyros has something up their sleeves. Odysseus just hopes that his sleeves are longer.
