Adam growled, and Alastor wished he was anywhere else at all. Never, never could he have imagined he would end up like this from the battle—he’d told Charlie and the others that taking Adam would be no trouble. Alastor had thought that was true, had believed losing to the first man wasn’t even to be considered from its impossibility. How wrong he had been.

When Alastor fights Adam, bad things happen before he's able to escape. When he's not the only one to see it, suddenly there's a lot more on his hands than licking his wounds and recovering his pride—especially when one of those people is the King of Hell. Even after the battle with heaven, is there any way for him to move on?
In other words, Alastor suffers. Some radioapple and old relationships surface, and nobody is really okay.
