“You can, you know,” Fran says, disrobing and carefully stepping into the water. It’s hot, almost but not quite unbearably so. “I mean, you have committed to buying the cow after all.”
His mouth twitches into a smile, but his eyes remain closed. Fran lowers herself into the water to her chest, sitting just on the edge of the molded seat. Max makes an enticing picture across from her; his broad, tanned shoulders rising above the foam of the bubble bath, his square jaw in sharp relief, throat exposed with droplets of water gathered just below his Adam’s apple.
