“Any particular reason?” Well, Logan forgot to think about that. He stumbles through his excuse, “One of my friends wanted to do a solo trip there and I’m worried he might fall into a ditch and die.”
“Oh?” Daniel’s voice is crackly over the speakers, but Logan can hear how Daniel definitely isn’t buying that. Logan’s not very good at lying, and lying any more than he has isn’t going to help him.
“Ok fine, I’m in Melbourne.” He can hear Daniel’s sharp intake of breath as he says, “What?”, before there’s another voice, unmistakably Max, saying to Daniel and not to the phone, “What happened?”
“Why the fuck are you there?”
