"What's wrong with what I'm wearing?"
The look Mira gave her was almost as searing as the sun as she very pointedly took Rumi's hand and lifted her arm, gesturing at her sleeve, "You're in a hoodie."
"I'm comfy!" Honestly she kind of just wanted to lay down.
"Rumi, it's—" Mira squinted up at a sign, "Zoey what's one fifteen F in real temperature numbers?"
"Forty-six or so," Zoey offered, coming in on Rumi's other side. "Rumi, drink some water."
Or, Rumi gets heatstroke and the girls discover she has patterns.

Summary
It’d be easier if she took her hoodie off, her inner voice reminded her petulantly, anything to get some cool air against her skin.
Rumi pushed the thought aside, it would be fine. She had been warm before, she could be warm again.
-Or-
Rumi has been warned repeatedly about the perils of wearing layers and warm clothing in the California heat. Too bad she doesn't listen.

Summary
“Hypothetically,” she asked, “if a demon and a human ever got together and made half-demons, what would we do about it?”
Mira sat up and peered at Rumi. Rumi didn't like that look; it felt uncomfortably like she could see right through her, like she could just tell Rumi wasn't asking an idle question. She was about to walk the question back, to change the topic, something, when Mira's eyes widened. Oh no—this was it; Rumi was done for.
“Oh my God,” said Mira. She narrowed her eyes and pointed an accusing finger at Rumi “You're thinking about having cute babies with that Saja Boy!”
(Or: Rumi tries to delicately soft launch the subject of hybrid human-demons; it doesn't go as planned.)

Summary
She could feel the heat of Rumi's skin on her hand, and when she pulled it away from Rumi's shoulder some of the cover-up smudged off.
Where it had come off were marks, partly obscured but unmistakably purple.
Mira's hand started to shake before she hid it behind her back.

Summary
"That wasn’t possible. Mi-yeong was gone. Dead and buried for twenty-four years. She couldn’t be standing here, couldn’t be breathing, couldn’t be speaking.
And yet she was.
Her silky black hair was pulled back into an intricate braid, her smile curved up at the edge just as it always had. It looked as if the years hadn’t touched her. But when Celine looked into her eyes there was no warmth, no recognition. There couldn’t be, not when this wasn’t Mi-yeong.
Rumi made a small, choked sound. Somewhere half-way between a gasp and a sob, “Eomma?”
_______________________________________________________A demon takes the form of Mi-yeong and attempts to manipulate Rumi into destroying the honmoon once and for all.
