With a straight face she told Batman she had never even heard of the Red Hood, while he was passed out on her couch. He confirmed to many an HR department that she definitely worked for him, uh-huh, five years in accounts? Absolutely, best accountant he’d ever had. She’d been ‘borrowing’ his vacuum cleaner for years now. He attended her grandpa's funeral.

    Boyfriends and girlfriends came and went. Heroes and villains, dubious costumes and harebrained schemes.

    They remained.

    He lifted his head - helmet? - to look at her. "That's my name. You alright, sweetheart?"
    "Am I-? I'm not the one who's been shot!" She reached forward to catch him as his head thunked back on the brick. Moving his brown leather jacket, she peered at the bullet wound. "No exit wound. You need a hospital."
    He made a sound which could have ranged anywhere from a grunt of pain to an amused scoff. It was hard to tell through the helmet's distortion. "Yeah, not likely."
    "No, you need a hospital," she stressed, "that bullet can't stay in there."
    He touched the dyed strands of hair falling in front of her face. "Yeah? What are you gonna do about it, Red?"

    The kid was going to die at this rate, whether or not Jason had anything to do with it. Apparently dead Robins were just a thing, now, and Bruce didn’t give a shit whether they lived or died.

    There was something almost comforting about that, that Jason’s wasn’t the only life that didn’t matter.

    There was something fucking infuriating about that, that Jason’s wasn’t the only life that didn’t matter.

    Well. If those fucks didn’t care about their baby bird now, Jason would just have to make them care. And he had a few ideas on just how to do that.

    Robin might get a little broken in the process, but what was a little kidnapping and torture between friends?

    a.k.a. the Titans Tower AU where Jason kidnaps Tim instead of trying to kill him. And then he kidnaps Steph. And Dick. And Cass. And...

    Jason may have a problem.

    Less crack-y than it sounds. This is mainly hurt, angst, and reckoning with canon trauma. Comfort will come! There *will* be a happy ending.

    You find yourself suddenly thrown into a universe where the silly characters in the comics you read are real, living people. Now, you have to find a way back home, so try not to get distracted by all the characters you had a crush on growing up, or the fact that you know far too much about pretty much everybody. (And definitely don't think about how this means your life is probably a comic book in another universe.)
