Summary
Toni has spent her entire life working toward her goals. She got into a great school, brought home an NCAA championship, graduated, and ended up in beautiful, sunny, Southern California. She's made a life for herself that's more than she ever could have dreamed up as a kid in Minnesota. She has a great job, great friends, and a seemingly endless dating pool to choose from.
Shelby has spent her life trying to be precisely everything her parents wanted. She was in pageants, participated in church activities, went to the college they chose for her close to home and their community. Only recently has she been able to get out from under the shadow of expectation, ending up at her mom's friend's company. With the taste of freedom on her lips, she's ready to explore and embrace the person she's always been but was never allowed to be.
What happens when two people's trajectories crash together, turning both of their lives (literally) upside down the first time their eyes meet?

Summary
Hailed as perhaps the greatest talent of their generation at one point, Shelby and Toni find themselves in Washington D.C. for teams they weren't drafted by and for fans who are just as likely to call them "overrated" as much as "a great investment". Years, Twitter, and a pro sports path aren't kind, and they really aren't either, but life (and a Nike rep named Fatin) seems hell-bent on forcing them together.
Or: Toni plays hockey. Shelby plays soccer. Neither one of them are lovers, and maybe that’s why they keep coming back together. This is Shelby and Toni, washed-up, overhyped, underestimated, and inevitable.
