As Brett began walking closer to the building, she heard someone yelling her name from the opposite direction. Before she had time to react she was on the ground, a couple of metres away from where she’d been standing with a firefighter on top of her. Lieutenant Greg Grainger to be exact. It had been six months since they’d split up and she hadn’t seen him since. This wasn’t exactly the position she thought they’d be in when they saw each other again on a call.

He’s not seeing the picture and he’s frustrated with all the talking in code. They need to lay it out for him so he can leave.
“Please paint that picture for me then. I’m still on call.”
She sighs. “Think about it. This person has extensive fire knowledge, the ability to run into a burning building, CPR knowledge and a massive hero complex. Between the methodology and opportunity, Captain, I believe that a firefighter is our suspect.”
He stares. That’s idiotic. Why would a firefighter do the opposite of their jobs? They save people. They aren’t killers.
He puts together the case and his presence. His mild irritation sparks into intense levels of rage and indignation.
He glares at Voight, voice increasing in volume. “Did you seriously bring me in as a suspect?”
