    Scar’s never known the avian to be anything but confident, calm, and calculated. But now he’s frightened, swinging a sword around haphazardly as a last-ditch attempt to stay alive, and all it will take is one wrong move or one perfect shot from a pillager, and he’ll die.

    And in a way, Scar is terrified too, because he’s never been able to land a shot on the avian before, or get close enough to do any damage, but whatever got to him first did much more than just a little prick from an arrow. Pillagers are scary in their own right, but Scar has a feeling that it wasn’t just pillagers or ravagers that did this.

     

    Something is very wrong.

    or, Scar saves the city’s most dangerous criminal, makes him his roommate, falls in love with him, and then also saves the world with him. In that order, with various setbacks along the way.

She’s bringing a whole arrangement of colorful people that she’s met and the youngest son of the Todoroki family is one of those friends. Yes, that’s right. The war hero’s youngest son. His father is a general of the imperial army, you know. Oh, and the best part? He’s eligible! If you marry a Todoroki you’d be set for life. Imagine the lifestyle you’d have in the capital of Yuuei! He’s only going to be here for the summer, so there isn’t much time to win his favor. There may be a lucky someone who ends up with a ring on their finger before this summer ends.

    “Hey, Joel, there's a package out here.” Jimmy called.

    “Who’s it from?” Joel asked, laying underneath Jimmy's beat-up car, busy patching up an oil leak.

    “Uh… it doesn’t say.” He replied. Joel got out from under the sorely loved Toyota and crossed the length of his garage to stand beside Jimmy.

    “That’s weird,” Joel grunted. The package was heavy, and wrapped in plain brown paper that rubbed against Joel's oil-stained hands. Without a second thought, he tore back the packaging. His eyes fell onto an old, worn book with a purple gash on the front.

    “That’s kind of creepy,” Jimmy chuckled.

    The gash twitched upon the leather cover and slowly blinked open, a purple pupil boring into Joel.
