    Peter Parker is untrained, inexperienced, and utterly alone when he starts being a vigilante. This changes very quickly when a local weirdo adopts him into the Vigilante network of New York. With an actually healthy support system, Peter learns to bring his friends and family into his secret, and he learns to let some vigilantes into his family.

    OR: What if there was an actual responsible adult on the streets of NYC? What if she kept all of her vigilantes safe as she could, and ended up keeping Peter under her wing? Well wonder no more, I present to you Levy, mentor, mother figure, mutant, and stellar vigilante caretaker!

    He watched, remaining silent, as she moved back inside her window. But then, just as she was about to cross the threshold, she paused. Peter didn't dare move as he watched her face, a thought seemingly crossing her mind. Turning her head up one more time, she said something that would change his life, though he didn't know it yet.

    “You do a lot of good. You make a difference. I admire that and…”

    The girl took a deep breath.

    Peter held his.

    “And your secret is safe with me. I promise.”

    After the world forgot him, Peter kept fighting. He was Spider-Man after all. But as the villains get worse and the heroes dwindle, Peter finally grows tired. Hasn't he done his time? He's never once shirked the responsibility forced upon him. Never once has he put himself first.

    Eventually, the straw breaks the camel's back. Peter finally hangs up the cape.

    Unfortunately the universe seems to disagree. When Peter wakes up in Gotham he knows he should probably find a way home. But what's the point? Normal people don't find their way home across the multiverse, and Peter is normal now. He refuses to be anything else.

    So why do unfamiliar heroes keep ending up on his doorstep? And can he really turn them away?
