“Dick,” Jason interrupted harshly, “did Bruce give you that bruise?” Jason was already dreading the answer, because hearing Dick talk like that, he already knew. But he had to hear it from Dick. There had to be some misunderstanding. Maybe Dick was distracted with worry and a thug got a lucky shot in? He tried to ignore the voice in the back of his head reminding him of the force a punch had to pack to leave that kind of bruise.

Bruce doesn’t think he’s a bad person, not when he has dedicated his life to the righteous mission of justice.
Bruce knows he can’t be a great father; he already has his life’s purpose, and it’s not parenting. But he’s not concerned. Really, Bruce doesn’t consider whether he’s a good or bad father at all. He doesn’t give himself time to think about it.
Maybe that’s the problem.
