Now see, it’s not like Roger doesn’t know Garp. They’ve spent the best part of two decades exchanging hits and insults, ever since the first day a couple of brand new baby-faced scallywags practically tripped over a freshly enlisted marine with a penchant for tossing cannonballs like they were skipping stones. And those have been pretty good years, all things considered! Even including the incident that finished up with Roger running for the docks in just his hat and skivvies with an armful of stolen loot and Garp roaring after him drenched head to toe in molasses. Maybe especially that incident, come to think of it.
Anywho.
All of which is to say, Roger knows good and well Garp’s got a brat of his own somewhere back in the East Blue - knows the kid’s been growing up strong and fast just like his old man, and that it probably won’t be long before there’s a second cannonball-thrower adding extra projectiles to their fights. Which sounds like it might be fun, honestly, depending on how the Mini Monkey reacts to hearing embarrassing stories about his old man.
What Roger doesn’t expect is to run into the kid on his own at God Valley.

Bartholomew Kuma's plan was to send the Straw Hats where they could get stronger, only, instead of sending Usopp to the island of plants and Luffy to the island of a fellow Warlord; he made the quick decision to send the two to an Emperor of the Seas who could help them persevere.
However, Kuma didn't take into the fact that Shanks would be heading towards a war, a war that hopefully wouldn't even get a chance to begin.
