Harry agarra con sus manitas hechas puño el abrigo de Remus, quien lo sostiene en la cadera derecha mientras Sirius observa detenidamente todo a su alrededor. Hay algo extraño en encontrar a su amante en el que fue su pequeño hogar. Afuera se escucha el goteo de las últimas lágrimas del cielo, el suelo está sucio de barro y todo parece teñirse de sepia, excepto claro, el largo cabello lacio y brilloso de Sirius. Recuerda entonces que quizás eso fue lo primero que le llamo la atención en cuarto año, tratando de justificar que su pelo se vería bien en una niña. No fue el caso, obviamente.
Sirius se voltea finalmente y levanta los hombros. —Creo que, si pintamos las paredes y ponemos una pequeña bomba muggle, esto puede mejorar.
—No seas ridículo, la bomba acabaría apenas con la entrada.

By the time it’s dark, there’s a fire crackling before them. The tent is set up. There are two chairs propped up by the fire. They have cooked and eaten dinner, and they are sitting in silence. It reminds Sirius of the dinners at home after he got sorted into Gryffindor, or after his mother found the letters from his friends, or lately, whenever he dares to show his face around the house at all. What lives in that space isn’t actually silence. Silence is absence. This thing that hangs between him and his mother, now between him and Remus, is the presence of something suffocating and cutting. It doesn’t serve as a placeholder for noise, it serves as a punishment. It cleaves him to the bone, flays him until he wants to cry. The soft, knotting feeling in his chest he feels when he wants to let tears out but can’t is rising in him. Sirius doesn’t know how to kill it except to hiss, “Well if you’re mad at me just fucking say so.”

Remus knew he was queer, or rather that he fancied blokes. That had come along in second or third year. This had led to a few discrete handjobs and snogs in broom closets with a few people over the years, but never anything serious. Maybe it was a combination of hormones and proximity and the girls busting up a bit over the summer before sixth year; but Remus for the first time found himself entranced by girls when he’d had a few drinks.
