Lena left the Pulitzer Prize ceremony without saying anything. One of the organizers had to improvise a short introductory speech for Kara.
When Kara got to her friend's apartment, the balcony door was open, she took it as an invitation to come in. Lena had been drinking, a lot. The scent of whiskey wafting through the room was evident even without super-sniffing, and when Luthor glared at her and showered her with her alpha pheromones, she knew she'd been wrong in assuming she was welcome.
The omega shuddered and felt, for a second, the urge to present herself to the alpha, it was so strange.

Lena has to blink a few times and shake out her head just to focus on the question. She's usually a lot sharper than this, but she's pretty sure her brain just short circuited because Kara's almost too much to process all at once. She has curly blonde hair, toned thighs, cherry-red lips, and her eyes are - they're mesmerizing, sparkling, the bluest Lena's ever seen, and—
Shit. Lena's definitely ogling.
"I'm Lena. Um. Luthor," she fumbles out after a second, taking Kara's hand finally and trying hard not to focus on how warm and soft and big it is. "I'm here with Sam."
"Alright, Lena Um Luthor," Kara winks as she shakes her hand firmly, smile tugging at the corners of her mouth. "Today's practice shouldn't be hard to follow, so pick up what you can and try to jump in. But don't hesitate to ask me anything if you're lost. I'm really good with taking questions, and I swear I don't bite."
OR, Lena only joins the uni's ultimate frisbee team because Sam keeps talking her ear off about needing more players. But then she meets the captain, Kara Danvers, and suddenly her summer gets a lot more interesting.

Summary
Lena casts her mind around for the last time she felt this unmoored, this off-balance, by a woman, and can't come up with anything. Kara Danvers is unlike anybody that Lena has ever met; the sweetest, bubbliest person Lena’s yet to come across, and simultaneously one of the saddest, who is probably lying to everyone that she meets. It’s an impossible contradiction to wrap your head around, and Lena should probably stop hiding in this bathroom and trying.
(Or, Kara and Lena get parent-trapped into a relationship by a goofy little alien.)
