Mira wasn’t stupid. She’d like to think she was an emotionally intelligent, self-aware person. So of course, she had already figured out years ago that she had feelings for her best friends. And like every other emotionally intelligent, self-aware gay person, Mira acknowledged those feelings just long enough to shove them into a cold, dark closet at the back of her mind. It was a problem to be dealt with down the line. Way down the line.
In other words, Mira wasn’t stupid, but she was a coward. And that’s how she ended up in this situation. On a date with some guy she couldn’t be bothered to remember the name of while Rumi and Zoey sat three tables over in fake mustaches and stupid hats.
