Summary
“You’re going to be a great father someday,” Eddie says eventually, because he’s worse than he used to be and Buck’s reverent eyes make him feel—they just make him feel.
“Eddie, I—”
“You are,” he repeats, firm. “Don’t you think I’d know better than anyone?”

Summary
“Eddie’s my best friend.”
“Okay, and you are very clearly in love with him, best friend or not.”
Surely their five minutes are up. Doesn’t she have somewhere to be? God, this conversation is so amusing to her she no longer cares about the time limit she’d previously set. He’s so fucked.
“W-What?”
“C’mon, Buck. This cannot be news to you,” she insists, like his stupidity is actually painful for her to deal with.
“I’m with Tommy,” he repeats. “Tommy is my boyfriend.”
“Like that stopped you before,” her smile is cutting, and he should’ve known she would throw that kiss back in his face. “Which, by the way, if I had known you were going to cheat on me I really would’ve bet money on it being with Eddie.” She says it casually, like her words are not recentering his universe.
or,
After being recruited to help bring down Councilwoman Ortiz, Taylor Kelly drops a bomb on Buck that leaves him spiraling.

Summary
Finally, when he feels like he hasn’t swallowed a mouthful of sand, Buck asks, “What happened?”
“I’m gonna kick your ass is what happened,” Maddie says, slamming the cup on the tray beside his bed. There’s only so much noise styrofoam can make but Buck knows Maddie put her best effort into making a point with the gesture. He winces. “How long have you gone without scening?”
And isn’t that a loaded question that Buck doesn’t even know how to start responding to.
Buck is having a hard time taking care of himself; Eddie won't let that happen.

Summary
Day twenty-three, change of tactics.
I feel like you both are being dumb.
Dad unfolds this one and reads it and stops and reads it again like he's hoping the words will rearrange themselves into something less insulting.
"Excuse me?"
"It's my feeling." Chris spears a dumpling with his chopsticks. "You can't argue with my feeling, that's not how therapy works."
"I can ask for clarification on what you mean."
"Clarification about what? It's very clear. You—" he points at Dad, "both—" he swings to point at Buck, "dumb. Three words. Simple sentence structure. I learned about that in English class."
Or,
Chris weaponizes his therapy homework to make his emotionally constipated dad admit he's in love with Buck.Bookmarked by Sevnharry
