It was a question that had been circling her head for 20 years, one that she had never intended to voice. It had been a scab she couldn't help but pick, a phantom pain for a crime that never was. Her therapist had told her that living under the fear of it happening was traumatic in itself, even if the act never happened, but that didn't answer her question. He'd had every opportunity. But he'd never taken it.
