Summary
Ellana has been trying to wield the Fade ever since her magic erupted and destroyed everything around her, leaving it a bleak and cold wasteland. Her strange memories, emotional turmoil and terrible teacher leave her grasping at strands for years. So when Mythal's favorite general returns to court, the great All-Mother orders him to teach her promising protegé. Solas must help shape Ellana into a powerful mage; a perfect, loyal weapon. Ellana quickly realizes that she and the strangely kind general have more in common than she thought, including a growing dissatisfaction with the ways of the evanuris. And a fear of what might happen if they're not stopped.
Through terrible conflict and cruelty, Ellana and Solas must navigate a way through the upcoming strife. One that will not only change the fate of Elvhenan forever, but also set them on a path that will only end in heartache. Because some sweet beginnings, might have bitter ends.
