Dazai imagines himself forcing the limousine door open and throwing himself out into oncoming traffic.
It might not kill him, but at least he’d miss the celebration. There would be punishment later, one that warranted a second hospital visit and left him hopped up on whatever cocktail of drugs would make him most obedient. He didn’t want that, but he thought of dragging himself into a ballroom full of people celebrating the murder of his only friend, plastering a smile across his face and flirting with whatever waitress would have him…
He’s thankful he hadn’t eaten anything since the curry with Odasaku, because otherwise he’d have thrown it up.
AKA: Mori throws a celebration to celebrate getting the Special Ability Permit. Dazai and Chuuya aren’t thrilled.

“Ha! Don’t even try to tell me that this wasn’t intentional. I was so disgusted by the end of the note that it felt like you wrote it specifically to piss me off. Really, it’s like you get off on my annoyance.”
“Nothing gets past Chuuya, hm~? It’s because you’ve known me for so long.” Dazai does his best not to let any honest reactions get in the way of his words, but it‘s requiring a lot not to contort his face with pain. He doesn’t need to be told; he knows that he’s failed because suicide is supposed to be painless, and this situation is anything but.

Or: Dazai has a habit of playing his mental health off as a joke, and he prefers to keep it that way. When Chuuya almost doesn't make it in time to save him from his latest suicide scheme, they both know that something has to change. However, with so many thoughts still left unsaid between the two of them, that's easier said than done.

Thrust together after Dazai's partner suffered from a drift overload, rendering him unable to maintain a neural connection, Chuuya and Dazai must learn to work together in body and in mind if they are to pilot the Jaeger 'Soukoku'. But not all of Dazai's monsters have human faces, and those are ones he will take to his grave, the ones he will share with no one.
As the connection between them winds deeper, pulling like the strings of fate, the two rookie pilots have to make a choice - to maintain the status quo or to strive for something more, something just out of reach...but the clock counting down the final heartbeats of humanity is ticking, time is running out and tragedy follows tragedy as the world begins to fall.
When a category four Kaiju threatens Yokohama, the secrets of the two pilots will come to light. Will they be able to work together to defeat their enemy, or will this new information break them apart from the inside?

Summary
Dazai has been gone for nearly a year now and Chuuya doesn't have the time to spare him even a single thought. With work piling up the last thing he needs is someone regularly breaking into his apartment and sleeping in his bed and yet here he is. It takes him a lot longer to figure out who it is than it should have.
