(There's this special genre of soulmate romance, where a non-soulmate relationship is the main focus, most of them stories where the main character's soulmate is a vile, unforgivable villain and almost all of them ending with a much rejoiced death. There's a further sub-genre of works where the bad soulmate fakes his death, and reappears suddenly to ruin the main couple's lives for the last time, and the hero hesitates but in the end he kills him, and is left agonizing over his partner's pain as she feels the other's death, but in the end they live happily ever after because what's some pain in the face of love?
Marinette despises that sort of books with a passion she can't express, cannot find words strong enough to do the job.
Feeling your soulmate die is a two-fold pain; of course there's the physical pain, and it's agonizing especially if your other half died a gruesome death, but oh— it's got nothing on the blood-curdling, hot-poker agony that is the bond ripping between two intertwined souls.)
