Summary

Summary
Luffy was a second away from dying and something in Ace snapped.
Luffy almost died, Luffy had a hole in his chest, the same Luffy he raised, the same Luffy he loved, his little brother almost died, and something in Ace snapped.
Luckily for Ace, and for the whole world, Monkey D. Luffy didn't die that day in Marineford. And Ace would make sure he never got hurt again, even if it meant never letting him out of his big brother's sight.
And Luffy had no say in the matter, whether he wanted to or not. Ace was a pirate, after all, and he kept what was his.

"I don't know." Death hums. "You're the first being I've met who refuses to stay dead."
You shrug. "I'm stubborn."
"Or foolish."
You lay down on your back, your arms and legs stretched out. "Yeah, I guess you could say that about me."
"Have you considered doing something different when you arrive in another world?"
You shake your head as if the idea itself was absurd. "I have no intention of changing what I want to do."
"Why is that?" Death looks down, empty eye sockets boring into you.
Your let out an airy laugh, the answer coming to you as easily as stating the sky was blue. "Because I choose Luffy. I choose him every single time."
