Summary
20 years ago, childhood friends Tatsuya and Ikuo witnessed the murder of their sister/mother figure Yuiko-sensei at the orphanage called Mahoroba. Their attempts at justice were squashed by a police official with a gold watch and so the case was covered up. Sachi was also a child from the orphanage and unknown to the other two, she also witnessed the horrific event that night; however, her fear prevented her from speaking up at the time. Now, 20 years later, Danno Tatsuya is a rising member of the yakuza, Ryuuzaki Ikuo is a detective with one of the highest arrest rates in the precinct, Yamashita Sachi is an investigative journalist who seeks to expose corruption and the truth to the world and their goal, is to find the men responsible for the murder of their beloved sensei.

He glanced back at her, eyebrows raised, not sure where she is going with this but hopeful. “Going to finish presenting your diagnosis, Dr. Mohan?”
“Never mind. The cockiness explains it.”
He gave her a crooked grin, “I asked my sister, but she said she’d rather be my patient.” He turned serious. They were on her block now. “I may have downplayed it. Didn’t want to spend this charming anniversary with someone who didn’t go through it. And didn’t want to drag someone who went through it to this dog and pony show.” He glanced sideways at her. “You were the first person I thought of. We worked together almost the whole night. You deserve this honor even if the wrong people are giving it in the wrong way. But just because you can handle one jackass-“ he gestured at himself, “doesn’t mean you want to be in a room with 400 more.”
With Robby not exactly PR material, Dr. Jack Abbot finds himself the reluctant but compelling face of the hospital’s capital campaign in the wake of PittFest. As black tie events become an excuse to spend more time with a certain Dr. Samira Mohan, he wonders if the role doesn't have some benefits.

Summary
Dr. Samira Mohan thought the future would arrive clearly. An attending offer from Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center seemed like the kind of thing that made a life settle into place, but something shifts between her and Dr. Jack Abbott, and suddenly the last year looks different.
Then the offers start coming. Los Angeles. Cincinnati. Johns Hopkins. Each one signaling a new start.
Samira does the only thing she knows how to do. She steps back, but she will have to decide if Pittsburgh is where her life continues, or just the place she learned how to leave.
