    When Lex Luthor finally gains control of Superman, he doesn’t make him destroy the world. That would be a waste.
    Instead, Lex removes the noise. The hesitation. The endless moral calculations that come with trying to save everyone. The noise.

    For a brief, impossible moment, Clark Kent experiences something he hasn’t felt since he became Superman:

    Peace.

    The Justice League breaks Lex’s control, the world celebrates, and the hero returns.

    But Clark remembers.

    And one night, exhausted by the weight of a world that never stops needing him, Superman flies to Lex Luthor’s penthouse. Not to threaten him.

    To ask a question he’s afraid to say out loud... and Lex is waiting.

    (Fic where Clark has to try and avoid the temptation of submitting to brainwashing from Luthor to lift the weight of the world on his shoulders (and fails). Lots of philosophical discussions.     Future fic: Bitten by a radioactive CD player, Lex gets super powers and just about everything he ever wanted, not that he'd ever admit he wanted what he gets.

    Canon is mostly from Smallville, but also little bits of Justice League, and Superman comic books. The Flash in this story is Barry Allen from the 1990's TV show. References for Impulse (Bart Allen) and Cyborg (Victor Stone) and Green Arrow (Oliver Queen) come from Smallville. I also jammed some Marvel canon into this, but since there are official DC/Marvel crossovers, hopefully I can get away with it. Hey, do you remember Dazzler? If you do, you're too old to read this crap.

    Note: I don't give translation permissions, please don't keep asking. Yes, I know many people do it without author permission, but some people are jerks. Don't be a jerk, mkay?
