Summary
An alternative continuation of the Luna IV scene where Dottore trapped Aether. Traveler said Dottore could never know what he wanted. Dottore is determined to prove him wrong.
The Traveler has befriended Archons and Harbingers alike, but when it comes to Dottore, he refuses him outright. Through study, negotiation, and whatever agreements Aether can be persuaded to sign, he intends to make himself indispensable.
He understands what Aether wants, what he lacks, what he's been carrying alone for too long. He knows, and he offers, and Aether fails — gradually, then completely — to keep pretending that none of it is working on him.
Dottore did not expect to end up feeling understood in return, and yet Aether proves to be someone who wants him more than any of his initial plans accounted for.
Eventually, they become special for each other, in their own twisted way. The world, meanwhile, has its own plans to test just how much this bond can withstand.p.s. Dottore turned out autistic-coded, you’re welcome (or I’m sorry)
