Summary
Rillian Tabris allies with General Loghain Mac Tir before the Landsmeet. Their armies wage a war of attrition against the darkspawn. The story is Eamon-critical and pro-Anora and has Loghain's military strategies saving the day. AU Origins and Awakenings.
The warnings are because I describe battles and the effects of taint graphically, no-one has plot armour, and because the female Tabris Origin, Arl Howe's dungeon, The Architect's experimentation and the creation of The Mother are all described realistically. The Mother has a name and is a woman my Warden knew.
Death and the Maiden is dedicated to Susan Nance Carhart (1950 - 2016) who inspired me both as a writer of original fiction and as Arsinoe de Blassenville on ff dot net. She made me welcome when I joined the Dragon Age community in 2010, and it was her suggestion, "what if Rillian teamed up with Loghain before the Landsmeet? that inspired this whole fic (and the subsequent stories, Lights in the Shadow and Veins of Blue Lightning). Those two have Hawke as the MC - but, because of what happens here, Hawke makes his appearance as a young army medic during the Fifth Blight, and does not take his mother to Kirkwall until after the war.

This story will follow the Harry Potter storyline fairly decently until 4th year. There will be some references to The Originals and Legacies.
