But right now Kalim can’t look at Jamil without remembering the truth of his friend's bitterness at Kalim, at his situation in life. Jamil regrets his actions, deeply but Kalim can’t forget the memory of the hate in Jamil’s eyes. Sometimes he wishes he was never born as Kalim Al Asim…
Kalim abruptly gets his wish in a way he never expected. He had been deep in the library when he runs into Riddle and Azul who had rapidly become Kalim’s friends as Kalim constantly used Riddle and Azul and housewarden duties as excuses to run away from Jamil.
One magical book later and Kalim gets what he wants: the opportunity to run away. He takes it, he just didn't expect Riddle and Azul with their own reasons to come along. Kalim isn't the only one who wants to escape, and when the reflection in the mirror is different - well why not take advantage?
