Summary
Three years ago, Daniil's body began changing against his will, shedding skin for scales. It started in my spine, a deep, unsettling stretch. Not like a muscle, more... foundational. Like the very beams holding me up were suddenly too long, then too short. A sharp, internal pop, just above the tailbone. I gasped, hands flying to the countertop, knuckles white on the cool laminate. The mug clattered, coffee sloshing, a dark stain spreading. I didn’t care.
My ribs. They’re no longer... fixed. I can feel them shifting, a slow, agonizing re-calibration. Like a cage being pried open from the inside, each bone groaning, flexing, re-seating itself. A grind, a terrible, wet crunch that vibrates through my teeth. Is that me? Is that the sounds of me? My breath is catching, a ragged thing in my throat. My vision is blurring, sweat stinging my eyes.
