Victor has been hovering. She's noticed. She's assumed it's a him thing - one of his fixations, orbital and quiet, the kind she's learned to read like weather. She's been making room for him without being asked, which is something she does now, which is something she didn't used to do.
She is not entirely prepared for what being near her has been doing to him.
(Or: Victor Gideon discovers he has a cycle, handles it with characteristic dignity, and makes exactly one oviposition comment that is roughly sixty percent a joke.)

When Vex first approaches him with the idea, he's more startled than anything. Their relationship is fresh enough that he's only recently gotten to a point where he's actually comfortable with it, felt like he's reached some kind of equilibrium, and so he's (understandably, he feels) surprised when Vex crawls atop him one morning, nuzzling into his chest and pressing kisses into his skin and then saying brightly, "Let's have a threesome with Jarett."
Percy squints down at her.
Or, the one where Vex is enthusiastic, Percy is unsure, and ...well, basically there's a threesome. With Jarett.
