If Grian wasn't convinced before, he definitely is now. Knowing that the Eye is watching him does nothing to help as he, the rest of the Archive staff, and their allies do their best to unravel secrets that have been hidden for hundreds of years, tucked between files and in books. He knows he is being watched. But by how many eyes?
Something is coming - something that he is terrified of, and cannot see the shape of. He just hopes he'll still be himself by the time it arrives.

Summary
Grian trusts his team. He trusts them, even when he knows some of them are hiding secrets that could be detrimental to their continued survival, which he considers a big step forwards and another step back. He knows that Pearl isn't telling them how she got the abilities she did, and what the cost is. He knows that something is up with Scar, even though he's putting on a happy face. He knows that something is dreadfully wrong with Mumbo, even if he can't quite figure out what. He knows.
Scott and Jimmy may be on their side, and willing to do a bit too much to help out, but he isn't sure what that means for confronting Xavi and Eva. Now that he knows the truth about what lurks on the edges of their Universe, and now that he knows that they knew the entire time, he's almost stuck.
Should he confront them, so the Archivists aren't working in fear? Or should he try to figure out why exactly they both betrayed the people they once worked with?

With the Devastation's attack on the V.O.I.D. Institute, everything is thrown off kilter. Mumbo tries to keep everybody together, but he's just one man and sometimes, Xavi is just easier to talk to. Pearl wants to know why Eva ended up the way he did and why she's the only one who is doing anything, and Scar is keeping an awful secret that could ruin everything he's every wanted if it's spilled.
Grian sits in his paranoia just as often as he sits in the Institute and records, trying not to let his ghosts destroy any hope of a new life he had. It won't work. It never has.
