    Out of all the stressors these dances created for Feinburg, Couriway’s short-lived bouts of joy were the worst on his psyche. The way he held himself around nobility was so much more free and youthful then when Fein got to see him, in strategy rooms and conferences. He knew that it was stupid to be jealous of these poorly-written nobles. Yet his very body seemed to reject every smile Couri gave, and jolt at every laugh that ricocheted off the walls. He usually loved hearing the sound, as it was a rare occurrence when the prince was sober. He only ever drank at these balls, and the wine turned him into a vision to behold. His smiles were wide and free, his crown only ever a few degrees askew on his soft brown hair. He twirled and laughed on the floor, taking the hand of every boy or girl that dared to approach.
