    Knuckles frowned. Sonic was laughing, but ‘never change’ seemed to be a compliment. Tails, at least, didn’t seem offended. He beamed with pleasure, his tails twitching.

    Knuckles was no closer to uncovering what ‘love’ meant. He had his theories, but just in case he was wrong, Knuckles would not use it himself.

    After a chaotic day—calling it that severely undersold the rollercoaster of finding the Master Emerald, losing it, almost dying, teaming up with his former enemy to fight his former ally, regaining the Master Emerald and saving the world, and then getting adopted—Knuckles found himself in a home he'd partially destroyed. It was a situation that would overwhelm even the mightiest of warriors.

    Thankfully, he had the Master Emerald to cling to now, as well as family that would support him, and also teach him about the soothing effects of yoga.
