Summary
During a case, Watson forcefully takes a long walk off a short balcony. Winds up with a concussion and a broken arm for his trouble. Ow. He mostly figures that Sherlock will show the minimum level of sympathy, more concerned that his investigative partner's off the table for the next little while. However, when Mariana gets a call from the hospital, she arrives to find a near catatonic Sherlock Holmes in his hospital room.

Summary
Airing out the dirty laundry of adults who committed crimes was one thing, but this little girl was a victim. Even if she did shoot somebody.
John and Sherlock are saved by some benevolent marksman when attacked on a case. The last thing either of them expected was for their savior to be a traumatized little girl.

Summary
The walls. They are so tall, with mist shrouding the bottoms, and the night is so deep. The clamour rising out of the city behind him would cover any noise - all he has to do is relax his grip, and he avoids offending the gods and cuts off a threat to his family before it can grow. He wouldn’t even hear a cry or the sound of it hitting the rocks below.
His stomach twists, and he blinks liquid that isn’t rain from his eyes.
“Forgive me, O Chronodes,” he says, bowing, mind racing, “but if neither myself nor my good son can defend our home adequately by the time this boy is old enough to challenge us, then may Ithaca burn, and us with it.”
